My earliest memory of painting was aged five with my father on a windy hill overlooking Wellington Harbour in New Zealand. My Father was painting the ships coming into dock whilst I tried to capture the wind in the tall grasses with felt tip markers.

I went on to study a degree in Illustration and fine art at the Kent Institute with the University of kent at Canterbury.

I now paint exclusively with oil paint and in the plein air style. Painting outdoors gives me the purest sense of immersion and capture.

I am based in Battle, East Sussex and enjoy painting the local countryside, coast and London. When ever time permits I especially enjoy painting with friend and extraordinary artist Karl Terry who shares a passion for the same spot of this lovely land.

My kit and materials.
For plein air painting I use the Open Box M box/easel. It is a great tool for the artist who likes to paint outdoors. I use this with a manfrotto tripod.
The Open Box M was introduced to me by fellow artist and friend Karl Terry - a wonderful artist
I paint on gesso primed boards with Michael Harding Oil paints.
